Our Himalayan Kala Jeera is grown and sourced from remote villages at heights above 2000 feet in the Himalaya. Considered a stimulant in Ayurveda, Kala Jeera or Black Caraway seeds have been used as a medicine for centuries in India and Egypt to treat various digestive issues. Caraway seeds have a delicate, nutty flavor with a hint of orange and anise. Kala Jeera can be used as a tasty seasoning in all kinds of foods, including breads, poultry and salads, Kala Jeera seeds are a rich source of dietary fiber as well as being an excellent source of minerals like iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese and selenium.

Although used in small amounts, herbs and spices add flavour and make a healthy contribution to your meals. Seasonings can make the food you eat tasty, without being high in calories. A lot of the herbs and spices that are commonly used in seasonings have medicinal properties; oregano and rosemary for example have antioxidants that have been studied for their cancer protective effects and chilies contain seven times more Vitamin C than oranges!
